Lela's Medical Issues Update
Good morning everyone!
This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!!
To quickly catch you up to date on my health issues...
- still seeing foot doctor: 3 more cysts have appeared, the red spot has grown, confusion fills the air. Gave me Motrin 800mg 3x/day for swelling.
- Foot doctor referred me to a neurologist; went last Monday (11-6).
- Neurologist appt: feels many of the foot issues (plus other issues) stem from my back pain and herniated discs issues. She, also, feels that my diabetes could be a result from my sleeping disorder along with my other issues, so she has referred me for 3 more tests and 2 new medications. Took me off Motrin, said this can cause kidney damage.
- Sent me to Sleep Disorder/Pulmonary Dr. for sleep apnea. (had first night of testing last night (11-9-06). Came back positive for sleep apnea and I need to go back next Friday night for test #2 with a C-pap machine. ALSO, during this visit they discovered that from my many leg movements and brain waves during the leg movements, that I suffer from Chronic Pain Syndrome. She said they will be giving me medicine for that too. That my body is in constant pain during my sleep and that pain alone will keep me from sleeping.
- The reason she sent me to this testing was very interesting...apparently when you don't get your required hours of "deep" sleep, your body produces more glucose and this can lead to diabetes. (who would of thunked!)
- Sending me to MSU for a very detailed MRI-CT of my back and spine. This appt. is this Sunday at noon. (I know, on a Sunday? strange!) She wants to see just how damaged the spine is that is pinched and causing the tingling-numb feeling in the right foot. She says she can't believe that 6 years ago, UM didn't do anything about it. She is upset that I have lived with this for 6 years. She said no more. After other testing she noted that I have already began to loose strength, control of my right foot and feels that in time, I could loose use of it if something isn't done about it.
- Sending me for a shock testing to see what is damaged and what isn't. (I am a little confused on this one. There was a lot of information in a short time. I have a small brain. LOL)
- She also put me on other meds for pain. One is a low dose of stuff they give to people with epilepsy.
- I am so surprised that all of these appts. are happening so quickly. Normally you wait for weeks to see any kind of specialists. God is really moving these right along.
God bless you all and know that you are loved!!
Lela~
P.S. So far, everything has been covered by our insurance!! That is God!! I am so glad this is coming out now and not once we were in Ohio.
