Getting ready to take flight to Alaska
Scott is busy trying to get things ready for his departure. A few things that are weighing heavy on his mind are:
*our insurance is up and gone as of May 1st. What to do next and will the boys and I need it while he is gone.
*safety, he is concerned for the boys and I while he is gone, wants to make sure we are going to be ok.
*decision on the tweeners program, what and if we are suppose to do it and what it will look like. He needs to meet with the youth pastor before his departure. That isn't long off. :-)
*Packing...exactly what and how much. He was given "some" advice, but left hanging on the rest.
*The schedule there, the "want done" list that was sent to them (the ones going from MMS) is rather long. Pray for discernment on what to do first and to be able to do it well.
*Fuel prices lead to the big issue of getting a more economical vehicle. He is really weighing this and it bothers him. Pray for peace and that he will learn how to let go and let God. :-)
*He has been working on 2 major projects at the hangar and feeling torn between the two in their importance to be done. Both are high on the list by MMS. Two team leaders fighting for the help of Scott to finish them. Many days he is wearing both hats off and on over and over. Very stressful.
*writing newsletter article before he leaves.
*worrying about trying to raise more funds. We are trying to see if we need to start working 2-3 weekends a month in just support raising...Scott feels that we will have to do this the rest of our lives...there goes our weekends. :=)
Lela is dealing with:
* trying to keep Scott calm before he leaves. Please pray that she doesn't fall apart like last time and that things run smoothly. I pray that I can give him that assurance that all is well when he checks in with me. We are not sure how we will communicate while he is away. There will be 4 hours difference and hopefully internet connections. I think he is taking his cell phone to try the texting thing at least, we will see.
* Keeping peace at home and normalcy for the boys. (what is normal??)
* keep up with 4 boys in soccer, practices, Shaughn in softball (practices and games), preparing and dealing with tweeners at church, helping out with high school youth group (through the end of May),
* working on, writing, getting approval for next newsletter, (due out first part of June). Pray for finances for that too.
*organizing our prayer retreat weekend and all of the details for that.
*organizing our trip in July to MI, we want to speak to BCC body on that Sunday, have a couple of dessert nights to meet new folks and attend both of our family reunions and attend another possible supporter along with many coffee times with folks to fund raise. God is in control, I know, but I like to have a plan for Him to mess up. :-)
*Scott, Shaughn and I all went to the doctors last week and he is requesting blood work to check different things, we are getting this all done tomorrow a.m. since we have to fast and loose our insurance after tomorrow. Pray that the results are good and nothing further has to be done or attended too. Can't afford the office visit alone...wow. (what do people do that have no issurance???) CRAZY I tell you!!
God has blessed us with a program here for low income families that we may be able to receive (first come first serve basis) free season passes for the family to the local aquatic center or gym. I sent our in and am waiting to here the results. For a family of 6 our income must be at or below $5992/mo. WE QUALIFY!!!! :-) That would be our income doubled almost.... :-)
Shaughn is adjusting to life with glasses well. He looks good. He has been driving more and more by himself and helping me with taking his brothers to soccer practices and all. Thank God that he can help me while Scott is gone. :-)
Matthew went to the eye doctor yesterday and Praise God, he does NOT need glasses. Yeah!!!
Zamu is scheduled to go in Thurs. at 9 a.m. to get fixed. His man card is getting taken away!! YEAH!! That or he is out of here. :-) Scott told me to get rid of him and I was good with that and in the process of taking him away and he stepped in and brought him back, telling him that he knew he was a good kitty and needed to straighten up. This morning told me that he wanted the kids to have a pet and thought Zamu would be good and to get him fixed. For someone who hates cats, he really doesn't act like it. ha ha ha :-) He woke up this morning asking Zamu is "his boys was a good boy last night". Hello??? what is that?? :-)
Well, another Praise!!
Our church swept me away this past weekend (with a 2 day notice) to the Women of Faith conference and paid the entire way. I put out nothing this weekend. They treated me to my tickets, hotel, dinners, Cheesecake Factory treat, books of my favorite speakers, gas, parking, everything!!!!! They told me that God had put me there in their body and that they were going to take care of me! They also said that they were going to give me a list of contacts for my use while Scott was gone in case I needed anything. They just blew me away! God blew me away in them! I had a hard time receiving it all but thank God so much.
Well, back to schooling the boys, they are getting off course. Love you all and would love to hear from you. Still haven't heard from some of your regarding the August weekend. I have our speaker lined up and she is already praying for the weekend and asking God what she is to share. I can't wait! We are very excited about this and hope you are too.
Bless you team and God bless your day!
Lela
